I am a graduate with honors from Michigan State College of Law where I obtained my Trial Advocacy Certification from the Fieger Trial Practice Institute. Previously, I was an assistant prosecuting attorney in Wayne County, where I successfully tried to verdict over fifty cases. Currently, I use my considerable trial experience to provide efficient, cost-effective, and comprehensive litigation counsel to businesses and individuals throughout the entire state of Michigan with focus in West Michigan including all lakeshore in areas of criminal defense, no-fault, commercial disputes, real estate and business matters, and family law/custody disputes, municipal defense litigation, municipal prosecution, and tax tribunal litigation.
Kasey grew up in Muskegon Michigan. She started working as an estate planning paralegal in 2005 for Jim Kobza and over the years has gained experience in almost every practice area. Kasey has been a part of Neagos Law since 2024 and currently specializes in family and criminal law.
When not in the office, Kasey spends her time hiking, antiquing and spending time with her family. Kasey believes in giving back to the community and spends her free time doing volunteer work. She is also the event lead for Relay for Life of Muskegon County through the American Cancer Society.
I am a Law Clerk with Neagos Law, expecting my JD from Ole Miss Law School in 2027. I obtained my BA in social work and sociology from Hope College in 2022, and I have approximately three years of experience in criminal defense.
Shane Mackey is a Legal Research Specialist experienced in a broad array of practice areas, including appellate law, criminal law, civil rights, government operations (FOIA, OMA, Title IV-E, federal block grants, etc), commercial litigation, complex litigation, business litigation, automobile no-fault, contracts, family law, children’s law, administrative law, and other areas as well. During law school, Shane served as Senior Law Review Editor and interned at the District of Columbia Public Defender’s Officer. Shane received his law degree cum laude from the University of the District of Columbia in 2005. Since then, he has worked for various firms in southeastern Michigan and also served as an independent Litigation Consultant and Strategist.
Prior to attending law school, Shane graduated summa cum laude from Eastern Michigan University’s American Bar Association approved paralegal studies program. While at Eastern, Shane received numerous awards for academic excellence. After law school, Shane returned to Eastern Michigan University’s School of Business in pursuit of his Masters in Business Administration with a concentration in finance.
Outside of work, Shane enjoys spending time in nature and tending to his small homestead.
Claire LaVigne, born and raised in Muskegon, graduated from Muskegon Catholic Central High School in 2023. She now attends the University of Michigan where she studies Sociology with a Social Work sub-major. Claire is grateful for this opportunity at Neagos Law and with hopes to pursue a degree in the legal field, Claire is excited to gain professional experience and serve her community.
